Rev. Mose Alvin Jones, the fifth of nine children was born on May 18, 1958 in Houston, Texas to the late Sis. Irene and Bro. Junius Jones.
He is the product of what is now known as Historical Fifth Ward, where he attended Bruce Elementary School. His family moved to North Houston's Scenic Wood where he graduated from Forest Brook High School, attended the University of Houston and the Union Baptist Bible College/Seminary of Houston, from which he was conferred the degree of Bachelor of Theology. In 2005, he received an Honorary Doctorate of Theology from the Potters Bible Institute of Houston, TX.
Rev. Jones received Christ at a very early age. He joined and was baptized at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church by the late, Rev. M. L. Jackson. Throughout the years he has remained a faithful and devoted member to his church. He is honored and privileged to be chosen by God and blessed with an exuberant wife, Sis. Sylvia Jackson Jones, four loving children (Rev. Lavarvia Jones, Sr., Rev. Moses Jones, Shantilly Jackson and Vernon Boyd), in addition to fifteen energetic grandchildren.
In September of 1989, a great authority was placed upon him as he answered the affirmative to become the Pastor and Leader of Greater Hope Missionary Baptist Church in the Sunnyside addition of Houston. He has encouraged his parishioners to work and give back to the community. Through his wisdom they are providing spiritual healing, restoring families, transforming lives, and empowering those who are without hope. In 2019, Rev. Jones celebrated 30 years of Pastoral Leadership at Greater Hope Missionary Baptist Church, which is the longest serving Pastor in the history of the church's organization.
The year of 2006 was also a momentous event and one of the most meaningful years in the life of Dr. Mose A. Jones, as on May 21, 2006 he was called to pastor his home church, Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church of Houston, as well as the Greater Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
Rev. Jones is a renown Gospel Messenger and recording artist empowered by God. He travels to many states as a revivalist, singing and preaching God's word. He is the First Vice-Moderator of the South Texas District Association. In addition, he was blessed to have the opportunity to travel to the Holy Land and to be baptized in the Jordan River.
